I was tagged by the lovely Chloe to do the pregnancy tag. She’s a first time mum to her beautiful daughter Amelie. You can check out her blog here.
The pregnancy tag is all about my pregnancy with my daughter and is great if you just want to have a bit of a nose!
1. How and when did you find out you were pregnant?
I woke up feeling sick most mornings but I never thought anything of it! I bought a pregnancy test but refused to take it for about a week because I was adamant I wasn’t pregnant so it was just kept in a drawer. I kept convincing myself I was just poorly – silly me! I decided to take the test about 5 minutes before I had to leave for work and there were the two lines!
2. How did you feel?
Scared and happy at the same time. I’ve always believed that everything happens for a reason and having a baby was definitely the best thing that could ever happen to us!
3. How old were you?
I was 19 years old when I fell pregnant and I’m now 20.
4. How did you tell your partner?
He knew I was taking the test. I came in showing him and said them two words. We were both as shocked as each other.
5. Did you wait three months to tell people? Why/why not?
I waited a good 6 months to tell people! My family knew before I did! I told family and family friends but apart from that my pregnancy was kept private between me, my partner and both of our families. I always wanted it to be that way so I could fully enjoy my pregnancy and no one else needed to know anyway.
6. Is this your first?
7. Do you want more?
Yes, yes yes! I’d like to wait a good couple of years though but on the other hand I don’t want the age gaps to be too far apart. I want to wait until the time is right but for now I want to focus on Estée and look at getting a career.
8. Your biggest craving?
I had so many! I must of craved a new thing everyday! My main cravings were definitely Double Deckers and Pepsi max. I would send my partner on countless trips to the shop bless him – he’s a goodun! I must of got through a double decker and can of Pepsi max a day! But what baby wants, baby gets? That’s just how it goes in pregnancy.
9. What’s the best part of being pregnant?
All the movements, the excitement, the scans and of course, the baby shopping!
10. What’s the worst part of being pregnant?
The heartburn for me. I suffered so bad with it, it was awful!
11. Did you find out the gender? What did you prefer?
Yes! I wasn’t going to but I couldn’t wait. I was so excited! I would of loved either but I’m so glad I had a girl first. I think my next pregnancy I would love to keep it a surprise!
12. Did you have names picked out and what were the stories behind them?
As soon as we found out we were expecting a girl I was browsing every single baby name website possible! We narrowed it down to 4 in the end Estée, Emilia, Aliza (we couldn’t decide if we wanted it spelt with an ‘A’ or an ‘E’)and Sienna. Whilst pregnant I watched the Sacconejoly’s religiously and I loved the name Emilia for a girl. There isn’t really a story behind why we chose Estée. It’s a French name with the meaning ‘star’. I’m half French too so it’s quite fitting! We just fell in love with the name and also the name ‘Sienna’ so we made that Estée’s middle name.
13. What was your birth plan?
I planned to have a water birth which went straight out the window as soon as I was told I was going to be induced. What even is the point in birth plans – seriously?
14. Did you breastfeed?
I was hand expressing for the first few days but breastfeeding sadly didn’t work out for us. I was so upset and had serious mum guilt. I had my heart set on breastfeeding but hopefully I’ll be able to in the future!
15. Do you plan to work or be a stay at home mum?
Work! I love routine. Estée is only 7 months old at the minute so there is no rush for me to get back into work. I’m enjoying every minute.
16. Do you make your own baby food?
Nope. I’ve been using the jars since I haven’t had a minute to make my own from moving. Again, serious mum guilt – ah!
17. Nursery ideas/themes
Estée’s bedroom is currently a blank canvas and we’re planning on decorating it this month! She’s still sleeping in our bedroom room at the minute so there’s no rush. I’d love a grey and pink theme with clouds. I think these colours go so well together. Pinterest comes in super handy with decorating!
Make sure you go over and check out Chloe’s pregnancy tag post!
I hope you’ve all had a lovely Christmas.
And Happy New Year!
